Most cosmetics using retinoids are made synthetically. Retinoids are a potent anti aging skincare ingredient. A vegan source of retinol would be carotenoids.

Avocado oil is also an excellent source of carotenoids, has a high concentration of vitamin A, also Vitamin D and E. The oil consist mostly of oleic, linoleic, and linolenic acids. Can be used effectively in cleansing creams, serums, moisturizers, bath oils, and sunscreen. Avocado oil can function as an emollient; it fills in the skin and smooths the skin. Helping with moisturizing and softening, the oil is also bactericidal and soothing.
